The price depends on activities and testing techniques used in the project and on the business
domain. The manual black-box testing is usually the cheapest. Such activities as automated
testing, usability testing, code and documentation analysis cost more. Usage of the special
testing tools and/or techniques (rarely met or of specific application areas) implies special
rates and is subject to an independent discussion.
As a rule, a testing project implementation requires several testing activities and
usage of a number of testing techniques.
Therefore, the final pricing needs taking into account the details of the specific project.

The basic forms of pricing are Fixed cost (FC), Time & Material (T&M), and 'Cost+'
(Dedicated testing team) schemes.
A payment scheme can be changed during the project implementation according to mutual agreement.
This scheme is used for relatively small testing projects (usually no more than 2-3 man-months)
or projects with stable and clear requirements.
It is a sort of FC project. Small trial projects (usually no more than 3-6 man-weeks) to
demonstrate the quality, compliance to obligations, level of communication, QA standards, etc.
The discount can be up to 25-35%.
Time & Material model is usually used for relatively long-term projects where the total effort
cannot be estimated sufficiently accurately in advance and/or the scope of work can vary during
the implementation. The payment is made on the time rate basis.
Dedicated testing team (DTT) leasing is an excellent option for
software or testing houses, as well as for IT departments of large companies, which strive to cut
their testing costs and concentrate on their core activities.
Different pricing models can be used in this case:
T&M scheme with 5-8% discount;
'Cost+' scheme:
a customer payment = tester's salary + overhead costs.
Overhead costs include facilities and infrastructure maintenance, taxes, accounting and
lawyer support, etc.
If large DTT is required (usually more than 20 persons), then Offshore Testing Center
(OTC) can be established as a more preferable option.
Offshore Testing Center is a separate legal entity. BugHuntress also provides an option of further
transferring of the OTC assets to the customer on the late stages of collaboration. It is
the so called "Built Operate Transfer" (BOT) approach.
Service price and cost savings are very important. Nonetheless,
one more aspect plays a vital role, too. What quality and value can the provider add to
customer's business? To find the answer, see the
